Project Overview
AGW Electronics required a complete overhaul of their air handling system at their Chesterfield facility. Their existing unit was outdated, inefficient, and no longer meeting the climate control needs of the building. The goal of this project was to remove the old system and replace it with a modern, energy-efficient Toshiba DX Heat Pump System to improve temperature regulation, reduce operational costs, and enhance overall air quality.
Scope of Work
This project involved a full system replacement, including:
- Decommissioning and Removal – Safely dismantling the existing air handling unit, disconnecting electrical and ducting systems, and ensuring all old equipment was removed from the site without disrupting daily operations.
- Installation of Toshiba DX Heat Pump System – Installing a highly efficient heat pump system designed for precision climate control, offering both heating and cooling functions tailored to the facility’s needs.
- Electrical and Control System Integration – Upgrading wiring, power connections, and control systems to ensure seamless operation with AGW Electronics’ building management system.
- Ductwork Adjustments and Airflow Optimization – Modifying existing ducting to maximise the efficiency of the new system, ensuring consistent airflow and temperature distribution.
- Testing and Commissioning – Conducting extensive performance testing to verify energy efficiency, airflow consistency, and temperature control before handing over the system to the client.
Project Execution
The entire project was completed within 10 days, with careful planning to ensure minimal disruption to AGW Electronics’ operations. A phased approach was used to remove and install components systematically, allowing key areas of the facility to remain functional during the upgrade.
Key steps in execution included:
- Initial Site Assessment – Evaluating the existing system and determining the best removal and installation strategy.
- System Removal and Disposal – Decommissioning the old unit in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- New System Installation – Positioning and securing the Toshiba DX Heat Pump System, followed by electrical and control integration.
- Ductwork Modifications – Adjusting air pathways to suit the specifications of the new system.
- Final Testing and Calibration – Ensuring the system met operational benchmarks, including energy efficiency, noise levels, and airflow performance.
Project Outcome
The new Toshiba DX Heat Pump System significantly improved temperature control within the AGW Electronics facility. Benefits included:
✅ Better Energy Efficiency – Reduced power consumption compared to the previous system.
✅ Consistent Climate Control – Stable heating and cooling across the workspace.
✅ Quieter Operation – A noticeable reduction in noise levels from the new system.
✅ Improved Air Quality – Optimised airflow and filtration for a healthier work environment.
This upgrade not only modernised AGW Electronics’ HVAC system but also reduced operational costs while ensuring long-term reliability.
